Style Notes & Anecdotes

WTF is Fashion Psychology?

Fashion Psychology is essentially the study of the intrinsic relationship between what we wear, how we think, how we feel and behave.

And THAT, gentle reader, is where it gets interesting.

Getting dressed is one of those things most of us do every single day without really thinking about what’s going on underneath, and I don’t mean beneath the clothes.

We open the wardrobe.

We reject approximately 732 things.

We announce that we have NOTHING TO WEAR, all while standing in front of enough clothing to survive a small apocalypse.

You’re Not Bad At Getting Dressed

Style Coaching; Where The Magic Happens!

You’ve heard of a Personal Stylist, an Image Consultant, and a Life Coach BUT the one question I get asked a fair bit is what the hell a Style Coach™️ actually is…I’m going to let you into a secret, it’s where the magic happens!

Colour Blocking

One of the great things about this style secret is that it doesn’t have to be black. You can really inject bold, bright or pastels, and take it up a notch by accessorising in the same colour too.

In The Pink

If we look at colour psychology, the study of how colours affect human emotions and behaviour, the colour pink is often associated with feelings of happiness, love, and femininity. Pink can evoke feelings of comfort and nurturing, colour expert Karen Haller, author of The Little Book of Colour says ‘if cuddles were a colour they’d be pink’.

Seeing Red

Are you seeing red everywhere today? Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, I had to write about the colour red on Valentines Day for you! I love the colour red, it’s actually one of my favourite colour drapes to use during a colour consultation as it’s so stark in contrast…

True Blue

If you Google ‘How many shades of blue are there’ you’ll get varying answers from 27 to over 200 due to the tones and tints used both in the fashion world and the design world and of course the blues we see in nature.
